Organizing has always been something I enjoy and now that we are in a new home I enjoy it even more! I plan on sharing a few of our rooms once they are complete as well as my organized spaces. We’ve been in the house for a few months and we are still months away from having each room how I would like. I thought once you moved into a home everything just fell right into place. Nope. I struggle to make final decisions because I don’t want to redo a room on repeat, there’s always a budget to consider and I want new or DIY updated furniture for most rooms which take a lot of time. It took me 4 months to decide on the style of dining table I want… you can see why it’s going to be months before reveals happen on the blog.
While I work at organizing each room perfectly I search the interweb for home organization tips and direction. In doing my research I’ve discovered new blogs to follow, new Instagram accounts that make my organized heart happy and roundup after roundup. I was sent a copy of Organizing for your lifestyle: Adaptable Inspirations from Socks to Suitcases and it along with these roundups continues to be my inspiration. See my top referenced kitchen, storage and craft room roundups below.
The kitchen is a space I am in most hours of the day it seems. I recently bought bins to put under the sink to help organize the cleaning supplies because that disarray was driving me nuts. I’d like to have better storage for my baking pans (gosh knows I have too many) and my pots. I really like some of the ideas above for baking pan storage! My pantry is a space that isn’t a mess but it isn’t as highly organized as I like. It’s on the organize this in a pretty manner list. wink!
Storage bins, clever containers and helpful list makers are my jam. I am guilty of over buying these supplies and then trying to find other ways to make them work because they didn’t fit in the space I originally bought them for. My sons playroom has cubbies and bins on bins. I can’t imagine life without bins and containers all over the place. I have a label maker but I rarely use it, how odd is that? I better put that thing to use asap!
More kitchen ideas, yay! Organizing the small items are important to me too. I have a variety of sprinkles, cupcake liners, baking candies and such for blog posts so storing them in a manner that makes life easy when I need to find them just makes sense. Cookbooks! I currently store my cookbooks in a small cabinet and keep one on display on the kitchen counter on a book stand. Currently the Outlander cookbook is on display, but has this Outlander loving fan made a recipe? Nope, not yet. I will, I promise I will. If my cookbooks were stored in a cute manner in a place that catches my eye as opposed to a cabinet I’d be more inspired to try new recipes!
Craft organization is so wildly important because sooo many small items are involved when it comes to crafting. I decided to give our boys a playroom instead of me having an office so I have to be clever with craft and entertaining supply storage. We made one entire side wall of our garage storage for all things crafts and Melissa Creates. It’s Ikea drawers and cabinets filled to the brim with supplies, but I am always on the hunt for clever ways to store those tiny crafty items.
For more everyday lifestyle organization I recommend this book. I’m almost done with the book and have a new game plan for organizing the closet.
