Last week we celebrated the husband’s Birthday, a very very special day in our household. I won’t get all sappy, but my husband is amazing in every human way possible. Aside from being patient, a great father, a hard worker, etc he puts up with this gal. He deserves cake or whatever sweet treat he wants daily.
While I’m not a huge chocolate person he totally is, so the Birthday boy gets a chocolate cake each and every year. Because it’s only normal to eat on Birthday cake for 3 days straight I decided to dress up the cake day 2 and create a totally different look and taste for us all to enjoy. Grab my simple and fun day two chocolate cake makeover details below!
The simple chocolate cake. I like a super simple Birthday cake and so does the husband. I used one of my favorite candle holders and ta-da! A chocolate Birthday cake was made for the best husband and dad ever.
I knew for the next 2 days we would snack on his birthday cake and I wanted to jazz it up a bit. Leftover cake is great, especially if it’s cold and with coffee (yum yum) but the husband easily gets board with the same food item… insert freeze dried strawberries! I love me some fruit and so does our toddler, he actually took over this bag of freeze dried strawberries right after I poured some on the cake slices. So, how do you change up leftover cake, give it a new look and new taste? Freeze dried fruit of all sorts of course! I’ll be doing this on repeat, friends. The bag of freeze dried pineapples and mango’s never stood a chance, they were gone within minutes! Next time I plan to try freeze dried beets with a sweet treat. Yep, beets! Mango’s been fun to add to this chocolate cake too if I didn’t go to town on them. wink
Have you “revived” a cake before? If you try my freeze dried fruit chocolate cake makeover let me know by sending me a photo or tagging me on IG. Freeze dried fruit and left over cake is where it’s at, friends.
