August is a wonderful month for many reasons. I feel like August is the last dash for all things Summer which is fun because it’s a reason to fit in one more getaway and it’s that much closer to all things fall. wink! Another reason August is so fabulous is because we get to celebrate my moms Birthday! This year the family will be celebrating at our favorite place collectively, Disney. A local trip to Mickey’s home is booked but that doesn’t mean Mom doesn’t get a fancy pants gift basket too. I kept things simple with her Birthday gift but added in personalized touches and made sure to grab a few of her favorites too. For this gift basket I gave special attention to her grandchildren’s birthstone colors; she adores her grand babies so they had to be included in her celebratory gift. Get the birthday gift basket with bunting banner for mom details below including how to create a bunting banner with birthstone colors.
I think everyone has an appreciation for candles but my mom has a bit of an obsession. She has a stock of candles at home in the guest bedroom and still finds reasons to snag more frequently. She’s a hoot. Purple also happens to be her favorite color so a purple delicous smelling candle was a must for this birthday gift basket. To add an extra pizzaz of fancy I attached a faux succulent to the top of the candle jar, a simple way to dress up any candle for gifting this summer!
While picking up gift basket supplies I spotted this reusable striped gift bag and it made it’s way into my cart within seconds. Navy, white and pink, that’s a combo that is a must have in all things, right? I love the colors of this bag and it’s something she can use again and again. When I presented her with the gift basket this weekend (she came to town for a pre-birthday visit) she told me she was going to take her new bag to her office with snacks in it- win win! You can snag a super cute reusable gift bag at your local Walmart in the gift card section along with some other goodies too, more details on that below.
It should be noted her favorite chocolates made the cut too. I suspect the chocolates will make it to her office in her cute new bag.
As I mentioned we will be heading to Disney to celebrate all things Mom in August so a personalized water bottle was a total must. Let’s talk about the name Bay. My toddler decided my moms name wasn’t grandma. We said grandma on repeat and one day, when he was ready, he said BAY! My mom said, what did he call me? I’m not sure where it came from or why, but it is now the name that all her grandbabies call her. She’s our Bay. Do you have a fun term for a grandparent? I’ve heard all kinds after mentioning my moms term for grandma. Bay will be sporting her new water bottle on our mini vacation!
Bay’s most favorite thing is her grandbabies so I honored them in this gift basket with a bunting banner representing colors of each grandchild’s birth month stone. I added their initials to one side of the banner for an extra touch of love. This bunting banner not only decorated her gift basket but she can now hang it up in her office! A little memento of her favorites while she works.
Creating a custom bunting banner is easy peasy.
If you’re creating a birth stone banner as I did you’ll simply need thick cardstock in the appropriate color combinations. My mom has 3 grandchildren and their birthstones are gorgeous together.
You’ll need cardstock, sizzors, ribbon and hot glue.
Fold the cardstock in half. Cut tiny triangles at the folded edge of the cardstock. Hot glue each triangle to ribbon and ta-da! Display on a gift basket, hang at your office or add them to the outside of a Birthday card.

As I mentioned, you should snag that beautiful reusable gift tote but be sure to get a supply of American Greeting cards too! Tissue paper and bows are great items to have on hand at all times too. Birthdays and special occasions can quickly approach so having a stock on hand is best. Speaking of special occasions, August 1st is National Girlfriends Day and August 27th is Just Because Day so I would head to Walmart now, friends. I picked up that super cute donut card you see peeking out for National Girlfriends Day and will be gifting donuts to my bestie on that day. For Just Because Day I snagged a card that mentions great style to give to someone who not only has great style but offers the best advice at all times. Aside from summer Birthdays, will you be picking up a card for these fun celebrations in August? Present your friends and family with “random acts of cardness” this summer!

A card is just a card, until it is given in the right moment. A few simple words can mean everything and have a greater impact than we realize. Selecting cards is a calming and fun experience, enjoy.
