Working from home has many challenges but at the end of the day it’s a joy to be home with my little family. I get the opportunity to work, go for a walk, work, enjoy snacks with the kids, work, take a break to play. I’ve chatted about the stresses and pressure of working at home while taking care of littles a handful of times here on the blog, but I can’t imagine it any other way. While it can be stressful there are many joys of working from home with a family of 5 (we include our Dodger because our dog is a family member). From taking a moment to read, to snack time, to walks to the mailbox there’s a few ways I break up a busy workday and soak up the joys of working from home with a family. Ever wonder what it’s like to work from home with kids and pets? You’ll see a snapshot of the breaks I take throughout the day with my adorable littles and how I handle stresses of work (by escaping, haha!) below. There’s info on a super cool photo contest below too!
Snack times and lunch time. The husband is home for our early breakfast which is nice, but this work from home mama tackles lunch time and multiple snacks times solo. Seeing those tiny hands grab snacks might just be one of my favorite things. I get caught up in my work flow often and catch myself not being thrilled it’s time for a snack but then when my smallest guy sees me open up his favorite snacks he kicks his legs with joy and I can’t help but smile and forget about the work flow I was previously in. All of us enjoy a quick snack mid morning and post lunch time, it helps break the day up and gives my mind some rest from work. I truly LOVE my work from home job but it’s still a job so I need break times throughout the day to keep me motivated.
Our favorite snack for our baby (he’s 9 months old, but let me call him a baby a bit longer) is Gerber®. He prefers the Gerber Graduates yogurt melts freeze-dried your & fruit snacks in Strawberry. Each bite melts in his mouth, it’s easy to chew, contains vitamins A,C,E and has no preservatives. My smallest guy is also a fan of the Lil’ Crunchies. He’s currently crawling around the house like a boss and the Lil’ Crunchies area idea for the crawlers age because they dissolve easily, easy to chew and have a shape perfect for him to pick up. His favorite Gerber Lil’ Crunchies is mild cheddar which contains 5 grams of whole grain per serving and the 20% daily value of Vitamin E for crawlers per serving.
We break for a mail box check each late afternoon post naptime, this is my favorite break away from the computer moment of the day. The boys love being outside and sometimes I can’t spend as much time as I would like playing outdoors with them on busy work days but I always make sure we get in a walk after naptime. The boys love the outdoor walk and the dog craves it. Our toddler, Lincoln, loves to be in charge of walking the dog and it’s photo worthy each time they walk together. While the baby is still in a stroller he enjoys watching his brother and his favorite dog walk in front of us, they walk like the run the neighborhood and it’s adorable.
Let me pause to share the bond the boys have with our family dog. The photo below shows Lincoln at about 6 months sitting up with his arm wrapped around his best friend. He thinks Dodger is the coolest dog ever and as a baby he couldn’t get enough of him. The photo to the right is current and Lincoln still enjoys putting his arm around his little buddy and giving him kisses before naptime and bed time. Too much cuteness, right? Just when you thought it was as cute as it gets you’ll spot an image of our 9 month old, Sebastian, looking for a pot to play drums on with Dodger helping him scope out the drums selections.

Back to the joys of working from home and the breaks I take throughout the day.
>We chatted about snacks time and lunch time with the kids but we can’t forget feeding the pup! The toddler loves to help me scoop out the dog food and feed Dodger breakfast and dinner, such a big boy helper. We prefer Purina® ONE® for our Dodger and he does too; especially since the #1 ingredient is always real meat, fish or poultry. Many that frequent Target may assume that Purina ONE is more expensive at Target locations, but it truly is competitively priced. Purina also has a great variety of products at Target especially Purina ONE. The company has over 85 years of innovation in pet nutrition, making them a trusted company with products that offer Omega-6 for radiant coat and healthy skin for all dogs.
When we do our weekly visits to Target Lincoln always asks if we need dog food and he can’t help but point out the dog costumes and rain coats. I’m not too sure Dodger would like to wear a rain coat as much as the boys would like it. I should at least snap a photo of him in a rain coat during one of his walks, shouldn’t I? That would be adorable.
We spend a lot of time in the playroom, its the favorite room of the dog and the littles. On my designated work days I take many breaks (as I’ve mentioned, ha!) and the playroom is where most of the break time moments occur. We play cars, toys and do one of our all time favorite things, read. When the boys are antsy for Mom to take a work break or just want some lovely time mid day I read them a book. It might sound like a lot, but heading to the playroom for 15 minutes during a hectic work day is relaxing and I can read a handful of books during that time frame… or read one of their favorites on repeat as Lincoln prefers. I often stress the to-do list and eye roll when I don’t get things complete but when I stop for a moment to cuddle and read all is right in the world.
Sometimes the dog prefers to nap in the playroom while we are having our fun so he isn’t too far away from us all. Having a space to let the kids play and make a mess that also is comfortable enough for the dog is nice. The dog naps in his bed and in the living room near Dad, but the playroom has always been where the high comfort levels sits, isn’t that sweet?
Now that I’ve shared my joys from working from home, our most used products and one epic contest here’s a snapshot of our Target adventures (they know us by name at Target) and what you’ll be looking for at your next Target visit:
So now it’s your turn to show me your littles and pets and all their cuteness! Be sure to enter the contest and let me know your break time tasks if you’re a work from home mama too. Working from home can be stressful but such a joy too.
